My Father’s Eyes

I had the privilege of going through my father’s (Paul G. Bergstrom) photographs created while he was in the service during the Vietnam War. He was a public affairs officer for the 13th Air Force stationed out of Clark AB in the Philippines.

This chapter of my father’s life I have known since he bought me my first camera 20 years ago. However, I did not see these images or know they were stashed away in the house with all the vacation slides until after he passed. So, I have no context or background for each image.  All I know is that these slides were from Aug 70’ – Nov 71’.

These slides have been through a couple of moves over the past 50 years and some of them were incredibly degraded and dusty. I did my best to remove all dust and scratches as well as rebuild color from the humidity damage.
